A Little Bit of Nature
These photos are from a few months ago when I was still recovering from foot surgery. I was going a bit stir-crazy and my husband suggested we drive down to a nearby park where I could sit in the shade with my camera and he could take a little walk. It was an inspired idea. It was so lovely to be outside. We brought a chair, snacks, drinks, books (of course), and my camera and I hobbled over to the little pond. There was a lot to watch on such a beautiful summer day though I was continually frustrated because the goldfinches refused to alight on any bushes within camera…

An Autumn Walk
This is likely to be a short post because the keyboard on my laptop is giving me problems. I have to mash several keys with ridiculous amounts of force to get them to work. I’ve tried various ways to fix them but I think it might be time for a new laptop. I’m not very pleased about that because there are lots of ways I would rather spend money but since I am addicted to putting my random thoughts on the internet I suppose I will have to cave in and buy one. I spent quite a while today searching for the best laptop deals and then making my husband…

Autumn in New England
It was one of those days you sometimes get latish in the autumn when the sun beams, the birds toot, and there is a bracing tang in the air that sends the blood beetling briskly through the veins. Jeeves and the Old School Chum by P. G. Wodehouse If you are an observant, long-term reader of this blog then you already are seeing a few contradictions with this post. It is entitled “Autumn in New England” and I moved away from New England a year and a half ago. Additionally, while it is about autumn, the quote is mostly about Old England and not New England. Those are both valid…

Spring in Ohio
It is summer and not spring. I know. Believe me, I know. It has been hot, humid, and miserable around here. However, you are getting spring photos anyway because I found some on my camera that I had forgotten I had taken. They are from a hike in Cuyahoga Valley National Park in early spring and another walk in a small nearby park later in the season. In some of them, I was fooling around with a different lens so they aren’t as good as I would like. Not going much of anywhere for a couple of years means I stopped picking up my camera and it shows. My current…

A Few Reasons Autumn is Better Than Summer
Leaves. The colors, the smell, the crisp sound as you step on them, the way they dance through the air as they fall to the ground. Pumpkin pie. Cool, refreshing air when you wake up in the morning. And in the middle of the afternoon. And all night long. Have I mentioned a time or two that I hate humidity with a fiery passion? Being able to go outside without melting into an angry, sweaty, lethargic puddle. Yes, I know a puddle can be those things because I have been that puddle. Chrysanthemums. Picking apples at the orchard and then coming home to make pie and applesauce. Needing a blanket…
