An Autumn Walk

This is likely to be a short post because the keyboard on my laptop is giving me problems. I have to mash several keys with ridiculous amounts of force to get them to work. I’ve tried various ways to fix them but I think it might be time for a new laptop. I’m not very pleased about that because there are lots of ways I would rather spend money but since I am addicted to putting my random thoughts on the internet I suppose I will have to cave in and buy one. I spent quite a while today searching for the best laptop deals and then making my husband and son interpret the specifications for me. I think at this point they want me to buy a laptop; any laptop.

What do you know, my keyboard is working just fine while I type this post. Of course. It is lulling me into a false sense of security so I will allow all the Black Friday sales to pass me by and then it will die completely. And yes, I know Black Friday isn’t until the end of the month but the world is a strange place, and apparently every sale between now and then is a Black Friday sale.

Anyway, a couple of weeks ago my husband and I met his parents in Indiana for a few days. We hadn’t seen them in over four years because of Covid and various other circumstances. It was a quiet visit because their health isn’t the best but my husband and I did go for one walk in a state forest. We had been sitting for what felt like days and were very glad to stretch our legs. I didn’t love Indiana and didn’t find it to be a particularly pretty state but this state forest was very nice.

I’m providing a warning here for the next photo because it is of an absolutely enormous spider. So, if you hate spiders you might want to scroll on past. I don’t like them but it was so big I simply had to take a photo. My husband helpfully scared it so it would run over next to a leaf for size comparison. Yes, I screamed when it ran. It looked bigger in real life than it does in this photo. You will have to trust me on that.

After that horrifying photo, I will provide one more pretty photo of the woods as a bit of a palate cleanser.

We walked for almost four miles and then went back to the hotel and convinced my in-laws to go out for ice cream. I had a scoop of coffee ice cream and a scoop of some caramel chocolate swirl flavor. It was a lot of ice cream and I ate every single bite. Indiana, in-laws, spiders; all those things had definitely earned me some ice cream.
