Golden Moments #11
We went for a walk in a state park near our house. It was warm and sunny but not hot. The trail wasn’t crowded and we all were cheerful. If that isn’t a golden moment then I don’t know what is. I took my daughter shopping for new clothes. She needed them desperately but it is always a fraught experience. She is 13 with all the insecurities that go along with the age and we usually end the day of shopping grumpy and miserable. This time she liked everything she tried on and found a few things she loves. She was so happy she was dancing in the dressing room.…

Golden Moments #10
I bought this sweatshirt a few weeks ago and it is making me very happy. My son asked if I had it made specifically for myself because it is so on brand. I didn’t, but yes, this is me in a nutshell. It is actually quite pink but that isn’t showing up too well in the photo. I have no idea why I bought pink, I would usually buy grey or blue, but pink it is and I am fine with that. I stopped in at a library that usually has a big selection of books that have been donated to the book sale but they think they can’t sell…

Golden Moments #9
I haven’t written one of these posts in a very long time. Life has been more than a bit stressful lately and the golden moments have been few and far between. However, I am sure they exist even if they are buried under a heap of everyday annoyances. My daughter and I went for a walk yesterday afternoon. It was quiet and peaceful and we chatted the whole way. She is 13 now and it is fascinating to see her grow up and to be able to have real, grown-up conversations with her. The photo at the top of this post was taken on our walk. My husband is still…

Golden Moments #8
It is autumn. Now, admittedly, it is not as cool as I would like and it is still raining pretty much all the time but it is autumn which is my favorite time of year. We had one very cool day when I got out my favorite afghan, sat on the couch with my book, and drank many, many cups of tea. Long may those days continue. Now I just need the leaves to change. The other day I had a book show up in the mail (That isn’t the golden moment. Stick with me here.) and Celia grabbed it, buried her nose in it, and announced that the smell…

Golden Moments #7
Life is frequently annoying. Life is stressful. Life is sometimes just a bit much. So, in my irregular attempt to concentrate on the positive, here is my list of golden moments lately. I must admit, it has been a bit of a struggle to come up with a whole post’s worth but they are there if I look hard enough. My son graduated from high school. He graduated on time despite dealing with some health issues during the past year or so that made this doubtful at times. His health is improving and life might go back to semi-normal soon. My husband was rear-ended while he was on his motorcycle…
