Bright Spots in a Grey World
I am starting to think that the sun never shines in Ohio. We have had grey day after grey day for what seems like weeks now. The rain is endless and the lawn behind our building is a muddy quagmire. I walk through there to get to work and the other day I showed up at work with muddy shoes and mud splatters on my pants. Not a good look. I am currently contemplating a move to a sunnier location. I want 70 degrees and sunshine year round. Also, affordable housing prices and lots of bookstores. That isn’t too much to ask, is it?
The British Library did brighten my life a bit by sending me these two lovely Crime Classics. I haven’t read them yet but London is one of my absolute favorite cities so I am greatly looking forward to two books set in the city. I am hoping for lots of lovely descriptions.
One thing to be said for incessant rain is that it leaves lots of time for hobbies. You can see the evidence of that in the photo above. I am quite pleased with the hat. It was my first time knitting a hat and my first time doing cables. I think it turned out pretty decently. The jean jacket vest is one I bought at a thrift store for a dollar or two purely to use as something to practice embroidery on. I am quite pleased with this as well. Now I just have to figure out how to incorporate it into an outfit because you had better believe I am going to wear it after putting all that work into it.
So, books and hobbies and dreaming of sunshine. That is how I have spent my time for the last week or two. If we don’t see some sunshine soon I am going to jump in my car and head south, and I am someone who hates the heat! But for now, I’ll start another project and read those lovely British Library Crime Classics.

Interesting books and a pretty London mug. It was sunny today here but it turned cloudy now. I was in London last month and finally went to Daunt books. Have you been to that bookshop?

Those two BLCC books look so good, the covers are luscious. Have you tried the BLCC collection Capital Crimes edited by Martin Edwards? That’s very good. I also enjoyed E.C.R. Lorac’s Bats in the Belfry which is also London based. Two I have my eye on are The Pool of London Murders by Josephine Bell and The Lost Gallows by John Dickson Carr. Have you read those?
I should say that I have actually been to Ohio, we visited friends who live near Columbus a couple of times. I thought it was such a beautiful state. Will pop your blog onto my reading list.
