A Poem for a Thursday #294
William Morris was an English poet, writer, activist, and textile designer. He is associated with the British Arts and Crafts movement. His house, Red House, is now part of the National Trust and it is also possible to tour his country home, Kelmscott Manor. During his lifetime he was best known for his poems but in recent years he is more well-known for his designs. I chose today’s poem and then realized that it is part of a much longer poem but I am only going to share this section. Love is enough: though the World be a-waningAnd the woods have no voice but the voice of complaining,Though the sky…

Book Sale Bargains
Every now and then there is a book sale at the library where I work. It is run by the Friends of the Library and stocked with donations from patrons. It has been a while since there has been a sale though the Book Nook has been open whenever a volunteer is there. I was happy to see that a recent Saturday I was working was a sale day. Sometimesit seems the only thing in the worldthat is without dark thoughts.Sometimes it seems the only thingin…

A Little Bit of Spoiling
Earlier this month my son, daughter, and I finally made it back home to Connecticut for a week. It has been a year and a half since we have been back and that is way too long. We missed spending time with family and friends and visiting all our old, familiar, favorite places. We live in Ohio now but, for most of us, our hearts are still back east. It was a lovely week. We had a few family dinners. We visited my 99-year-old grandmother. I went thrifting with my aunt which is always one of my favorite things to do. My son visited some friends. We puttered around eating,…
