life lately

This and That

I have not had much time for blogging lately which is making me grumpy. It is also still ridiculously hot and humid which is making me beyond grumpy. One day it shall cool off and I shall be cheerful again and write all the posts that are milling around in my head. In the meantime, you get this incoherent dump of this and that.

The photo above was taken at an arboretum we visited recently. There will be a full post one of these days, but I loved this mountain laurel bush. Years ago, we used to visit a state forest in Connecticut every spring because the path was lined with mountain laurel. It made me happy to see it again.

It is berry season and cherry season. I hope you appreciate that if you are in the appropriate part of the world to partake. My daughter just brought me a bowl of cherries. We are going through so much fruit while it is semi-affordable.

My son recently read Foundation by Isaac Asimov. He enjoyed it and wanted to read the rest of the series but his dad only owned the first book. We requested the rest of them from the library, a total of six books, and so far five of them have arrived. Do I need to tell any of you that the second in the series is the only one still missing? We all know this is how library holds work. I feel sorry for him, but I’m also simply enjoying his rekindled love of books. As with many people, he stopped reading as much in his teenage years but now, in his 20s, he has rediscovered books and I couldn’t be happier about it.

My daughter works at the same library I do, though we are in separate departments. She frequently helps out with the various evening programs. A few weeks ago, there was a print-making activity and she had time to make her own print. She made this for me. Isn’t it charming? I think I am going to frame it.

Well, there you have it. A few bits from my life lately. Maybe soon I’ll write a real post. What have you been up to these days?

A blog by a book lover, tea drinker, and over-analyzer of life.
