A Poem for a Thursday #296

I like trains. They always give me the feeling of starting out on an adventure even when it is only a simple journey. Part of that is likely because trains are more of a novelty in the U.S. than they are in other countries. Today’s poem is about a train journey. I hope you enjoy it.

The book I am reading
rests on my knee. You sleep.

It's beautiful out there -
fields, little lakes and winter trees
in February sunlight,
every car park a shining mosaic.

Long, radiant minutes,
your hand in my hand.
still warm, still warm.

On a Train
