    A Poem for a Thursday #266

Peter Everwine was an American poet who was born in Michigan, grew up in Pennsylvania, and taught at Fresno State University until his retirement in 1992. He is the author of seven collections of poetry and he also worked as a translator. His poems are “revered for their simplicity and clarity of language, often drawing on themes of family and nature.” We walked at the edge of the sea, the dog, still young then, running ahead of us.Few people. “I Want to Go to Scotland”

In August of 2019, my daughter and I went on a trip to Scotland. We had the time of our lives. It was one of those magical trips where everything was perfect. You can read a little about that trip here. Our flight home was canceled and we received compensation from the airline. Someone From the Past was originally published in 1958 and won the Crime Writer’s Association award for best crime novel of the year. Margot Bennett never wrote another crime novel. I wish she had because I enjoyed this quite a lot. Nancy and Sarah have been friends for years and their loves and relationships have become very intertwined. When Sarah receives threatening letters she asks Nancy to help her discover who is behind them. The letter says, ‘I haven’t forgotten what you did to me in the past. You don’t deserve to live, what’s a life worth to you? I’ve watched the road you’ve taken. Up to a point, any…

Life has loveliness to sell All beautiful and splendid things,Blue waves whitened on a cliff, Soaring fire that sways and sings,And children's faces looking upHolding wonder like a cup.Life has loveliness to sell, Music like a curve of gold,Scent of pine trees in the rain, Eyes that love you, arms that hold,And for your spirit's…
