A Change is as Good as a Rest

I have been blogging for over five years now. I have written 430 posts. Over one hundred of those are Poem for a Thursday posts. Way too many of them are about books I have bought and probably not enough are reviews of those books. I have talked about my love for London many, many times. I have written about days out, ranted about what is on my mind, and waxed nostalgic about my children growing up. Blogging has taught me a little about building a website, a little about photography, and a little more about writing. It has given me a place that is my own. Over the last…

    Two Years Of Blogging

My blog is two years old today. I have written 192 posts, taken hundreds and hundreds of photos, and bought way too many books. I have sat down countless times convinced that I have nothing to say and frequently found that somehow the words keep coming. I have planned excursions solely to have something to write about. I have written blog posts in my head in the middle of the night and woken the next day mourning the words that I should have written down. I post less frequently than I did at first. Every new toy loses its novelty after a while and I don’t have quite as much…

Thoughts On One Year Of Blogging

I started this blog one year ago this week. I feel like this post should be headed by a photo of a big number one shaped balloon, possibly a bit of confetti, and maybe a cake. Instead, you get a photo of a thistle.  Take from that what you will. So here I am, one year into blogging,  This is what has and hasn’t happened. I haven’t acquired hundreds and thousands of followers.  It is much harder than I thought to get people to read my ramblings.  I knew I wouldn’t instantly have a huge number of followers but I did think by now I would have more than I…

Does Blogging Change The Way You Read?

I started thinking about this the other night as I was trying to write a review of London Belongs To Me.  I was struggling a bit and I wasn’t sure why.  After all, it was a book I had enjoyed.  I should be able to express that in a brief review.  But still, I struggled.  All I could think to write was a bit vague as if I was saying “I liked it, you might like it, read it.”  Not really an earth-shaking review. Then I realized, over the last few months, I have developed two different ways of reading.  I read to blog and I read to read.  That is…

    Three Months of Blogging

I started this blog on a whim three months ago, not sure how long I would keep it up and not even completely sure why I clicked the “create blog” button.  I didn’t tell anyone, including my husband, that I had a blog for at least a month and now my husband and children are the only ones in my everyday life who know about it.  Because really, having a blog is a bit of an odd thing.  You write down your thoughts and opinions on the internet for strangers to read, not because you have to and not because you are being paid to but just because you want…
