A Poem for a Thursday #321

Today’s poem is by Wendell Berry. His poetry “celebrates the holiness of life and everyday miracles often taken for granted.” While Berry first gained literary renown for his poetry, he went on to publish essays and novels. Berry’s strong belief in the necessity of community and living in harmony with the earth permeates his writing.
Sometimes hidden from me
in daily custom and trust,
so that I live by you unaware
as by the beating of my heart,
suddenly you flare in my sight,
a wild rose blooming at the edge
of thicket, grace and light
where yesterday was only shade,
and once more I am blessed, choosing
again what I chose before.
The Wild Rose
Wendell Berry
