A Shameless Bit of Nepotism

My son has a YouTube channel. He has played around with it over the years but earlier this year he started taking it more seriously. He has been quite successful with it and has a growing audience. I am a loving mother and therefore I watch the vast majority of his videos. However, video games, Star Wars, and trading card games are not really my cup of tea. I’m sure that comes as a great surprise to you.

Once in a while, Tristan makes a video that doesn’t fit into his usual array of subjects. It might not garner as many views as some of his more mainstream videos but it comes from his heart. He will do a book review or, as in this video, an ode to the wonders of Calvin and Hobbes. The comic strip was an integral part of his childhood and his love for it comes through clearly.

I love this video; not solely because it was made by my son and not solely because there is an unexpected compliment for my husband and me buried at the end though those two facts definitely factor into the equation. I love it because it reminds me of the wonders of childhood and it also reminds me of my own little boy, sitting on the couch with his head buried in a comic book. So, yeah, maybe I love it because it was made by my son. Either way, I want you to watch it too.

A blog by a book lover, tea drinker, and over-analyzer of life.
