Is There Such a Thing as Too Many Copies of a Jane Austen Novel?

I think you all know where I stand on this question. No. Absolutely not. There is no such thing as too many copies of a Jane Austen novel. This is especially true when Chronicle Books publishes another of their lovely books that include ephemera from the novel. I already own Pride and Prejudice in this edition and wrote a very enthusiastic post about it here. Last year, they published an edition of Little Women which I wrote about here. I have been eagerly waiting to see what this year’s book would be. Imagine my joy when I found out it was a lovely edition of Persuasion. The fact that I already own several editions of Persuasion did not minimize my excitement. And yes, in the photo above, that is the letter from Captain Wentworth.

My lovely husband has bought all of these books for me. They conveniently are released right around our wedding anniversary and that makes buying a gift for me very simple. I announce that the latest Chronicle Books edition is available, he buys it for me, and we are all happy. Just in case you are wondering, I did buy him a gift too. He told me what he wanted and I ordered it. That is what 32 years of marriage does. I am not complaining though. It guarantees we aren’t disappointed in our gifts.

I sincerely hope Chronicle Books goes on to publish the rest of Jane Austen’s novels. I have a few ideas of other authors they could use as well. After all, my husband and I plan to stay married so we will need anniversary gifts for years to come.
