In Which the Germs Finally Win

Last week I was wandering around this park in Massachusetts with my parents and my kids. This week I am at home with Covid. My husband and son also have Covid and my daughter, who is in Connecticut with my parents, is sick too. Before you feel too sorry for us, none of us are horribly sick and I barely qualify as sick at all. In fact, I put it down to allergies at first and a negative Covid test seemed to confirm it. Then my husband and son became ill so I tested again and this time it was positive. I can’t go to work before at least Saturday and that is assuming I test negative by then.
We have no idea where we contracted Covid. We did travel back to Connecticut but we were cautious about what we did, we visited most people outside, and we wore masks when we were inside. And yet, we are still sick. We are all fully vaccinated though.
We did have a lovely time visiting everyone and so far, no one we visited has come down with Covid. I took lots of photos and will post a bit more about our trip when I have had a chance to sort through them. This time I managed to fit in visits to some of my oldest friends and it was absolutely wonderful to be able to chat and chat all we wanted.
But now, here I am. Home and germ-ridden. Forced to stay inside and read. What a hardship. Did I mention it is going to be 95 degrees F (35 degrees C) tomorrow? That is with high humidity and a heat index of 110 degrees (43 degrees C). Thank goodness for air conditioning and a huge stack of books. See, preparedness always pays off. And, by preparedness, I mean buying lots of books. Always buy the books.

So sorry to hear you’ve all got covid, the good thing is you’ve all got it at once so no-one has to tiptoe around the house avoiding the others. I look forward to seeing more holiday pics when you’re up to it. Take care xo

That does make it easier! My daughter, who is with her grandparents, has had to be much more careful in order not to infect them.

I’m so glad that you all seem to have a mild case of Covid, I hope you are all back to normal soon. It’s great that you were able to have a lovely time with family and friends anyway. Thank goodness you have air conditioning, it’s cool here for June, dry but very windy, it has been windy for weeks now, strange summer weather – but I mustn’t grumble!

All three of the others are testing negative now but I was still positive yesterday and they won’t let me go back to work without the negative test. I’ll test again tomorrow. This weather is very strange. It was so hot and muggy for a few days and then it turned cool again. Not that I am complaining about the cool weather! I wish it was always like that.

Thank you. We are all much better. We are just dealing with lingering tiredness.
