A Library Visit//Medina County District Library: Highland Branch

The Medina County District Library system has seven branches but, since I am new to the area, I have not managed to visit them all yet. When I saw a flyer that said the Highland branch would be having a book sale it seemed like the perfect time to check it out. The book sale was supposed to be a stop on a fall foliage tour of the county but fall took a long time to arrive this year and the leaves had not really changed. I took the long route there anyway and it was very pretty if very green still.

The library is very pretty with big windows looking out on a marshy area that must be full of birds. I like the swing. Wouldn’t it be a lovely place to sit and read the books you had just checked out? I am tempted to do just that next spring. I also like the reading room with the gas fireplace. It also has big windows. It is such a bright, sunny library.

I only managed to get the book sale an hour or so before it closed for the weekend and, as you can see from the above photo, it was very picked over by that time. However, they were selling the books for $3.00 a grocery bag full so I filled a bag. What else could I do? Many of the books are not ones that will be a permanent part of my collection but they will be nice to read and then donate back for the next library sale. They were all so inexpensive that I didn’t bother to look things up; I just filled my bag.

I heard at work the other day that the main branch in Medina has a permanent book sale in their lower level. I think that will be my next stop in my trek around the library system.

What a great location for a library, I love that swing too. I think you have some decent books in your pile – what a bargain!

It was definitely a bargain. I figure even if I don’t care for half of them I have still come out way ahead.
