A Change is as Good as a Rest

I have been blogging for over five years now. I have written 430 posts. Over one hundred of those are Poem for a Thursday posts. Way too many of them are about books I have bought and probably not enough are reviews of those books. I have talked about my love for London many, many times. I have written about days out, ranted about what is on my mind, and waxed nostalgic about my children growing up.
Blogging has taught me a little about building a website, a little about photography, and a little more about writing. It has given me a place that is my own.
Over the last year, I have struggled a bit to keep this blog going. Sometimes the Poem for a Thursday posts are the only things I have had the energy to write. The world doesn’t lend itself to going on adventures, my own life has included some not very pleasant stresses, and my budget currently does not allow as much book buying as I used to indulge in. What do you write about then? I didn’t always know.
I thought about quitting blogging but I knew I didn’t really want to. If I stopped blogging I would just go back to writing things in my head instead of on here. I wouldn’t really stop writing; I would simply stop writing it down. So, what do you do when you don’t know what to do?
You change everything.
Well, everything blogging related, that is. I have not run away from home and started a new life as a nosy lady in an English village who solves the numerous murders of surrounding neighbors though that does appeal at times. I have, however, changed blogging platforms and completely changed the look of my blog. It has been a lot of work and a steep learning curve and I have thoroughly enjoyed every moment of it.
I suppose this means I will still be here writing the occasional book review and dreaming of traveling again. Either that or I will have to find an English village that needs a lady detective.

I’ve been saying I was going to switch platforms for ages and I finally followed through. It is so nice to see comments from you again.

I was holding my breath while I was reading this, afraid that you were going to say that you were giving up blogging. I’m so glad you’re not!
I so look forward to your posts, especially the ones that meander through your thoughts. They’re lovely!

Thank you! That is so sweet of you. I’ve had moments when I have thought about quitting but really, I would miss it too much.

Phew, I’d be really sad if you gave up blogging. I look forward to your posts. Blogging is probably good for your mental health too, I know it’s good for mine and that benefits everyone nearby!

Thank you. I think you are probably right. We all need an outlet for stress and this is mine.

I’m glad you decided to continue blogging. Don’t worry about a constant stream of posts, just do what you find enjoyable. The new blog looks great, by the way!

Thank you. I try not to feel any pressure but sometimes I wish I had the time and energy to do more. I am pretty happy with the new look though.

So glad you’ve decided to stay with the blogging, I may not comment very often, but I do pop by regularly.
This covid-year has unsettled us all in different ways. I also refreshed aspects of my blog a couple of months back.
And I love the new look you have here now. It’s very clean and uncluttered. And I love the Persphone books in the header…one day I will travel back to the UK and visit the bookshop in person!

Thank you, clean and uncluttered was exactly what I was going for. Hopefully, the day isn’t too far away where we can make plans and go on adventures again.
