Two Bookshop Visits

Last week I wrote about our trip to Mohican State Park and I mentioned that it rained one of the days we were there which obviously made bookstore visits absolutely necessary. We started at Holly’s Book Rack in Ontario, OH. Frequently, I find that some of the secondhand bookshops I visit don’t stock older books. Since those are the books I am usually looking for that can lead to disappointment. Thankfully, Holly’s Book Rack had a good selection of classics and older books. I spent a long time browsing and finally bought the books in the photo above. When I was paying for them the owner looked through my selection and said “Wow, you are really all over the place with your reading, aren’t you?” She isn’t wrong.

On our way home we stopped at Books in Stock in Wooster, OH. I visited previously and wrote about it here. It is one of my favorite bookshops I have discovered since we moved to Ohio and I was happy to get the chance to revisit it. The selection is always amazing and I had to whittle down the books I bought from the huge stack I accumulated as I wandered around the shop. They had a lot of books I really coveted that were out of my price range as well. I was pleased to find the book by Norman Longmate since I have read some of his books before and found them to be informative and very readable non-fiction. My husband found Literary London and immediately brought it to me. He does a good job at hunting out things that might interest me. I buy Mignon Eberharts whenever I encounter them so those were good finds as well.

I hadn’t bought any books in quite a while and now I have stacks of them waiting to be put on shelves. I have two more posts to come about other purchases. I am still laid up recovering from bunion surgery and I am restraining myself from buying books online. I really shouldn’t but a package or two arriving would certainly brighten my days.
