A List of Things I am Currently Finding Intensely Irritating

Yesterday was one of those days. You know the days; the ones where every simple thing you try to do turns into an hour-long series of phone calls. One of those days when you consider running away from home. One of those days when going to bed early just so the day will end faster seems like a reasonable coping mechanism. One of those days when nothing particularly terrible happens but lots of annoying things happen. Since it was one of those days I am going to share the misery and complain a little.
Who ever thought health insurance was a good idea? It is expensive, annoying, and convoluted. Health insurance shouldn’t have the final say on what medication I take; the doctor should. I shouldn’t have to spend hours on the phone trying to figure out approved brands of medication and arranging for the doctor to submit paperwork to get a medication approved. That is not my job. And yet, insurance thinks it is my job. And I would appreciate it if just once I could go to the pharmacy to pick up a prescription for my daughter and her health insurance wouldn’t have reverted back to old information that causes them to deny the prescription. I have to call and change it every single time.
While we are talking about pharmacies I’ll just mention how much I hate the CVS automated refill line. I called to refill my daughter’s prescription, the automated line approved it and gave me a pick-up time. I tried to pick it up and CVS had no record of my attempt to refill, said there were no refills remaining, and said her insurance wouldn’t let me pick it up anyway. She had to leave on vacation this morning without her medication and I am going to have to straighten out the mess and ship it out to her once I finally get it filled.
Menopause. I hate menopause. I have figured out the cause of global warming and it is me. I am the problem.
Why does my clothes dryer take three cycles to kind of dry my towels and yet, when I put my daughter’s new dress in on low heat it suddenly dries with the heat of a thousand suns (or one menopausal woman) and shrinks the dress?
Kitchen cupboards that do not magically produce chocolate. Those are also intensely irritating. I have been reduced to eating the chocolate chips. By the handful. Without baking with them.
I subscribed to a magazine. I was really looking forward to it but it never showed up. I contacted them. They sent me one issue. It never showed up again. I contacted them again. They sent me five issues all at once. That is not a magazine subscription, that is a magazine deluge. It defeats the whole purpose of a subscription. I like getting something in the mail once a month. I have a horrible feeling I won’t get another issue, will have to call again, and will receive another magazine deluge.
So, there are a lot of complaints. None terribly devastating but definitely irritating What has been irritating you lately?

Health insurance companies are not in the business of providing health care. They are in the business of making money by avoiding paying for health care. That is why every time I hear the term “US health care system” I have to laugh (or scream). These companies are like any other insurance company, except unlike car insurance or home owner’s insurance, you do need health care all the time, not just in a worst-case scenario. But your paragraphs about kitchen cupboards and magazine subscriptions made me think: what if health insurance companies sent out chocolate and magazine every so often? I bet it would be a great PR move.

At least the chocolate and magazines would provide a method with which to relax and calm down after dealing with the insurance company!

The medication situation sounds extremely irritating and how very annoying to have to send it now!
CVS often seems to call me about refills I never asked for. I really hope they can put whatever pills back into wherever they came from because I am certainly not going to get them. I never know if my insurance will result in prescriptions that are $5 or $75.

There doesn’t seem to be any rhyme or reason to how much a prescription costs. I hate dealing with all the medication/prescription/insurance issues. Oh well, we are set. Until next month when there will be another issue, I am sure.
