It is an incontrovertible fact that any visit to a new town, city, or country demands that you visit a bookstore or two. Therefore, when my husband and I spent a few days in Columbus, OH last month I was forced to visit The Book Loft. After all, how could I possibly resist 32 rooms of books? <\/p>\n\n\n\n

It was an absolute maze of tiny, interconnecting rooms. The store provides maps so you can find your way around if the idea of being eternally lost in a bookstore overwhelms you though I can’t imagine why it should. Each room, for the most part, is its own category. The Book Loft also sells book-themed merchandise including an unreasonable number of tote bags. The photo below shows just a small selection.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

My favorite bookshop is a good, secondhand bookshop where you can rummage to your heart’s content and find unexpected treasures. The Book Loft sells new books so I don’t think it is a favorite but I did enjoy my time there. <\/p>\n\n\n\n

We happily wove our way through the warren of rooms backtracking and getting confused with fair regularity. The Book Loft seems to sell a little bit of everything so you can easily stumble upon something you didn’t know you wanted. At the same time, if you visit hoping to find books on a specific subject you might be disappointed. I didn’t always think the books were organized in a clear manner but I suppose with 32 rooms of books that might be hard to achieve. <\/p>\n\n\n\n

We left having only purchased two books but we were pleased with our finds. My husband bought an Anthony Trollope novel for a friend of his. He had asked us to keep an eye out for it. And I bought this. I had never heard of it but I am very pleased to have found it.<\/p>\n\n\n\n
