He wrote many plays but he is also known for his poetry. I am sure you know who he is even if you aren&#8217;t aware of the fact because the first line of the poem I am featuring is so famous. I picked it because my daughter&#8217;s name is Celia. <\/p>\n\n\n\n<div style=\"height:50px\" aria-hidden=\"true\" class=\"wp-block-spacer\"><\/div>\n\n\n\n<pre class=\"wp-block-verse\">Drinke to me, onely, with thine eyes,\n     And I will pledge with mine;\nOr leave a kisse but in the cup,\n     And Ile not looke for wine.\nThe thirst, that from the soule doth rise,\n     Dothe aske a drinke divine:\nBut might I of Jove's <em>Nectar<\/em> sup,\n     I would not change for thine.\nI sent thee, late, a rosie wreath,\n     Not so much honoring thee,\nAs giving it a hope, that there\n     It could not withered bee.\nBut thou thereon did'st onely breath,\n     And sent'st it back to mee:\nSince when it growes, and smells,  I sweare,\n     Not of it selfe, but thee.\n\nSong to Celia\nBen Jonson<\/pre>\n","protected":false},"excerpt":{"rendered":"<p>Ben Jonson is one of the best-known writers of the English Renaissance.
