And I love wildflowers. So, all in all, this poem made me happy. I hope you like it too.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<div style=\"height:50px\" aria-hidden=\"true\" class=\"wp-block-spacer\"><\/div>\n\n\n\n<pre class=\"wp-block-verse\">Finding a new poet\nis like finding a new wildflower\nout in the woods. You don't see\n\nits name in the flower books, and\nnobody you tell believes\nin its odd color or the way\n\nits leaves grow in splayed rows\ndown the whole length of the page. In fact\nthe very page smells of spilled\n\nred wine and the mustiness of the sea\non a foggy day - the odor of truth\nand of lying.\n\nAnd the words are so familiar,\nso strangely new, words\nyou almost wrote yourself, if only\n\nin your dreams there had been a pencil\nor a pen or even a paintbrush,\nif only there had been a flower.\n\nA New Poet\nLinda Pastan<\/pre>\n","protected":false},"excerpt":{"rendered":"<p>Linda Pastan isn&#8217;t a new poet for me but I do really like her description of discovering a poet.
