Maybe I should write them more often because they force me to look for the good instead of concentrating on the negative. To be honest, concentrating on the negative is my default setting many days. However, here we go; one dose of positivity coming up.

My husband had a doctor’s appointment last week (bear with me because that isn’t the golden moment) and after he was done we went out to lunch at a new-to-us restaurant. I have been very underwhelmed with the restaurants in the area. I am sure there are high-end ones that are good but I am not a high-end restaurant person. I just want a nice lunch place or a cute coffee shop. This place checked both boxes. I ordered a very good salad with a homemade dressing, my tea came in an actual teapot, and my husband said the coffee was good. We don’t ask for much more. After that, my husband patiently waited while I wandered through Joann Fabrics to find the things I needed for my next project. Those two small stops in an otherwise ordinary day turned it from dreary to golden.

My husband bought me two gifts recently and I love them both. One I picked out myself. It is a book-themed mug which is, I am sure, a big surprise to all of you. I saw it at Barnes & Noble and loved it but wasn’t going to buy it because the last thing I need is another mug. He overruled me and bought it anyway and honestly, that was a great decision. He also recently bought me a fancy, wooden fountain pen. He was very pleased with himself for this purchase because usually when he buys me gifts I pick them out myself. This time he came up with the idea, found what he thought I would like, bought it, and I loved it. It is so fancy! And wooden! And way, way nicer than any fountain pen I would buy myself!

I figured out how to do magic loop in knitting and am three-quarters done knitting myself a pair of fingerless gloves. I spent a lovely afternoon learning a new skill and that makes me happy.

I have turned my daughter into a tea drinker. No matter what else happens, I have succeeded as a mother.

I saw snowdrops blooming a week ago. It has been a strangely warm winter and everything is ahead of schedule so I wasn’t really expecting them. It was a little jolt of beauty when I saw them under a tree.

The other day my two kids were playing some very complicated card game at the kitchen table. They were laughing and joking and having a ball. I was drinking my tea and reading my book nearby and it made me happy to hear them having fun and enjoying each other’s company. That was a golden moment right there.

My daughter had an appointment recently and I dropped her off and took myself to Panera for an hour. I drank tea, read my book, and people-watched. It was glorious. Well, the tea wasn’t glorious but the time to myself was.

It has been a reasonably dull winter but I guess there were some good moments scattered through. I hope your life has had a few golden moments as well.

As usual, I am going to start by saying that it has been a long time since I have written one of these posts.
