After all, why visit a location if you don’t acquire a few new books in the process? My husband is very used to enforced bookstore stops so he was not at all surprised when, after our visit to the Jane Austen costume exhibit, I announced that there was a bookshop within walking distance. And walk I did despite the fact that there was a heat index of 103 degrees Fahrenheit that day and I practically melted into a puddle by the time I arrived. I left my husband walking down by the Ohio River and it was not quite so warm by the water. There was a nice breeze and some shade and it all felt quite doable with books as a reward. However, once I left the river and the shade behind it was a completely different story.

I persevered though because I am nothing if not determined when bookstores are on the horizon.
