Pugh&#8217;s poetry employs a &#8220;beguiling simplicity of language&#8221; and is devoted to storytelling. She says &#8220;I have been accused of being &#8220;populist&#8221; and &#8220;too accessible&#8221;, both of which I hope are true.&#8221;<\/p>\n\n\n\n<div style=\"height:50px\" aria-hidden=\"true\" class=\"wp-block-spacer\"><\/div>\n\n\n\n<pre class=\"wp-block-verse\">What if this road, that has held no surprises\nthese many years, decided not to go\nhome after all; what if it could turn\nleft or right with no more ado\nthan a kite-tail? What if its tarry skin\nwere like a long, supple bolt of cloth,\nthat is shaken and rolled out, and takes \na new shape from the contours beneath?\nAnd if it chose to lay itself down\nin a new way, around a blind corner,\nacross hills you must climb without knowing\nwhat's on the other side, who would not hanker\nto be going, at all risks?
