I did manage to have books delivered on both the recent snow days. \u00a0That made me happy.<\/p>\n<div class=\"separator\" style=\"clear: both; text-align: center;\"><a style=\"margin-left: 1em; margin-right: 1em;\" href=\"https:\/\/www.holdsuponhappiness.com\/wp-content\/uploads\/2016\/02\/20160209_1415537E2-1024x576.jpg\"><img loading=\"lazy\" decoding=\"async\" class=\"aligncenter\" title=\"\" src=\"https:\/\/www.holdsuponhappiness.com\/wp-content\/uploads\/2016\/02\/20160209_1415537E2-1024x576.jpg\" alt=\"Barbara Pym\" width=\"640\" height=\"360\" border=\"0\" \/><\/a><\/div>\n<p>I have read all of Barbara Pym&#8217;s books but I don&#8217;t own them all so I am trying to remedy that. \u00a0I know very little about her life so I also got a copy of her autobiography. \u00a0It is edited by Hazel Holt. \u00a0I have read and enjoyed her series of cozy mysteries. \u00a0I believe the two were good friends. \u00a0It is written using diaries and letters which is a format I enjoy. \u00a0It satisfies my nosy side.<\/p>\n<div class=\"separator\" style=\"clear: both; text-align: center;\"><a style=\"margin-left: 1em; margin-right: 1em;\" href=\"https:\/\/www.holdsuponhappiness.com\/wp-content\/uploads\/2016\/02\/20160209_1416387E2-576x1024.jpg\"><img loading=\"lazy\" decoding=\"async\" class=\"aligncenter\" title=\"\" src=\"https:\/\/www.holdsuponhappiness.com\/wp-content\/uploads\/2016\/02\/20160209_1416387E2-576x1024.jpg\" alt=\"At Mrs. Lippincote's--Elizabeth Taylor\" width=\"360\" height=\"640\" border=\"0\" \/><\/a><\/div>\n<p>I like the cover of this book. \u00a0Elizabeth Taylor writes such quiet yet incisive novels. \u00a0I think I might have read this one years ago but I am not sure. \u00a0Anyway, I get to read it now.<\/p>\n<div class=\"separator\" style=\"clear: both; text-align: center;\"><a style=\"margin-left: 1em; margin-right: 1em;\" href=\"https:\/\/www.holdsuponhappiness.com\/wp-content\/uploads\/2016\/02\/20160209_1416217E2-576x1024.jpg\"><img loading=\"lazy\" decoding=\"async\" class=\"aligncenter\" title=\"\" src=\"https:\/\/www.holdsuponhappiness.com\/wp-content\/uploads\/2016\/02\/20160209_1416217E2-576x1024.jpg\" alt=\"Miss Mole--E.H. Young\" width=\"360\" height=\"640\" border=\"0\" \/><\/a><\/div>\n<p>I love E.H. Young&#8217;s books and I hear very good things about <em>Miss Mole<\/em>. \u00a0From what I can tell, it is generally supposed to be the best of her works. \u00a0The back cover describes it as her masterpiece and it won the James Tait Black Memorial Prize in 1930. \u00a0That is not a prize I have heard of but a prize-winning book is a prize-winning book.<\/p>\n<p>I also got a couple of books for my daughter. \u00a0She has been reading the Melendy books by Elizabeth Enright and we have had a hard time getting hold of the last two books in the series. \u00a0She debated having me buy them since she is a bit beyond optimum reading age for them and she thought it would be a waste of money to buy books she would be done with very quickly. \u00a0However, I knew she really wanted to read them so I ordered them anyway. \u00a0The last one showed up yesterday when she was home sick from school and it kept her happily occupied for a little while.<\/p>\n<p>My daughter kindly shared her cold and sore throat with me but at least I have new books to read while I am sick. \u00a0Now if I can just resist the urge to sit on the couch and browse online for even more&#8230;<\/p>\n","protected":false},"excerpt":{"rendered":"<p>I bought a few more books. \u00a0I am always buying a few more books. \u00a0I figure everyone has their indulgences, some people spend lots of money on coffee or wine or shoes. \u00a0I spend my money on books and books are more affordable than wine or shoes.
