{"id":360,"date":"2016-02-22T11:46:00","date_gmt":"2016-02-22T11:46:00","guid":{"rendered":"https:\/\/www.holdsuponhappiness.com\/index.php\/2016\/02\/22\/bits-and-pieces-of-my-week\/"},"modified":"2020-10-28T16:44:12","modified_gmt":"2020-10-28T16:44:12","slug":"bits-and-pieces-of-my-week","status":"publish","type":"post","link":"https:\/\/www.holdsuponhappiness.com\/index.php\/2016\/02\/22\/bits-and-pieces-of-my-week\/","title":{"rendered":"Bits And Pieces Of My Week"},"content":{"rendered":"<div class=\"separator\" style=\"clear: both; text-align: center;\"><a style=\"margin-left: 1em; margin-right: 1em;\" href=\"https:\/\/www.holdsuponhappiness.com\/wp-content\/uploads\/2016\/02\/20160221_155902_HDR7E2-1024x576.jpg\"><img loading=\"lazy\" decoding=\"async\" class=\"aligncenter\" title=\"\" src=\"https:\/\/www.holdsuponhappiness.com\/wp-content\/uploads\/2016\/02\/20160221_155902_HDR7E2-1024x576.jpg\" alt=\"river\" width=\"640\" height=\"360\" border=\"0\" \/><\/a><\/div>\n<p>We went for a walk on Sunday afternoon. \u00a0It was 56 degrees. \u00a0I know I keep mentioning the temperature but that is just so unusual. \u00a0Of course, last Sunday we had a wind chill of 30 below zero so I guess we should enjoy the warmth when we get it. \u00a0My daughter brought her scooter and she had so much fun. \u00a0Ten-year-old children are easy to please. \u00a0She also likes appearing on my blog so here she is in all her glory.<\/p>\n<div class=\"separator\" style=\"clear: both; text-align: center;\"><a style=\"margin-left: 1em; margin-right: 1em;\" href=\"https:\/\/www.holdsuponhappiness.com\/wp-content\/uploads\/2016\/02\/20160221_1514247E2-534x1024.jpg\"><img loading=\"lazy\" decoding=\"async\" class=\"aligncenter\" title=\"\" src=\"https:\/\/www.holdsuponhappiness.com\/wp-content\/uploads\/2016\/02\/20160221_1514247E2-534x1024.jpg\" alt=\"a girl and her scooter\" width=\"334\" height=\"640\" border=\"0\" \/><\/a><\/div>\n<div class=\"separator\" style=\"clear: both; text-align: center;\"><a style=\"margin-left: 1em; margin-right: 1em;\" href=\"https:\/\/www.holdsuponhappiness.com\/wp-content\/uploads\/2016\/02\/20160221_154004-576x1024.jpg\"><img loading=\"lazy\" decoding=\"async\" class=\"aligncenter\" title=\"\" src=\"https:\/\/www.holdsuponhappiness.com\/wp-content\/uploads\/2016\/02\/20160221_154004-576x1024.jpg\" alt=\"a girl and her scooter\" width=\"360\" height=\"640\" border=\"0\" \/><\/a><\/div>\n<p>The rest of my family is not so crazy about appearing here which is why you rarely see pictures of them. \u00a0I think my daughter just likes the attention&#8230;She also has designated herself as my official proofreader and critic. \u00a0She regularly asks if I have a blog post that I need someone to check over. \u00a0I must say, I appreciate having such an enthusiastic audience. \u00a0Of course, I might have a larger enthusiastic audience if I told people in my real life that this blog exists but honestly, that isn&#8217;t going to happen any time soon. \u00a0That is probably because a lot of people already think I am a bit odd for reading so much and if I tell them that I also write about the books I read and post my thoughts online, well, then they will really think I am crazy. \u00a0That or they just won&#8217;t care, and I am not sure which would be worse.<\/p>\n<p>But anyway, back to my week. \u00a0This week I had the tragedy of discovering that chocolate contributes to the migraines I get. \u00a0I had suspected so for a long time but had been living in denial. \u00a0Wouldn&#8217;t you? \u00a0Ten weeks ago I quit eating chocolate and I didn&#8217;t get a migraine for that whole time. \u00a0This week I started eating chocolate again and promptly had the migraines return. \u00a0That seems pretty definitive to me. \u00a0Can we just have a moment of silence to mourn the end of a beautiful friendship? \u00a0Chocolate and I have been in a close relationship for years. \u00a0This is very sad. \u00a0What do you replace chocolate with? \u00a0I don&#8217;t like most other candy. \u00a0I do like caramel, that has possibilities, but it just won&#8217;t be the same. \u00a0I have already given up wheat because my doctor thought it would help control my migraines. \u00a0What is going to be left? \u00a0I am going to end up eating a diet of fruits and vegetables which will be very healthy but not too useful at soothing those hormonal cravings.<\/p>\n<p>I went to visit an old friend this week and she baked me almond flour jam thumbprint cookies. \u00a0That is a true friend. \u00a0We have been friends for almost 20 years but about 7 years ago my family and I moved from being in the same town as her to being about an hour away. \u00a0That hour makes such a difference. \u00a0We do our best but I hadn&#8217;t seen her in over six months. \u00a0It was so nice to catch up and chat like mad and eat cookies. \u00a0It is wonderful when friendships stand the test of time and distance. \u00a0We don&#8217;t see each other often but when we do it is as if no time has passed since the last time we were together.<\/p>\n<p>My reading this week has not really been blog-worthy. \u00a0It has been a lot of rereading. \u00a0I started the week with a bad cold and just kept pulling old, familiar books off the shelf. \u00a0Right now I am rereading <em>To Say Nothing of the Dog<\/em> by Connie Willis. \u00a0I mentioned it in my last post and immediately had the urge to read it again. \u00a0It is so much fun. \u00a0I did read <em>Family Roundabout<\/em> by Richmal Crompton and need to write a review of it.
