{"id":317,"date":"2016-07-14T11:35:00","date_gmt":"2016-07-14T11:35:00","guid":{"rendered":"https:\/\/www.holdsuponhappiness.com\/index.php\/2016\/07\/14\/things-that-make-me-happy-2\/"},"modified":"2020-10-28T02:43:04","modified_gmt":"2020-10-28T02:43:04","slug":"things-that-make-me-happy-2","status":"publish","type":"post","link":"https:\/\/www.holdsuponhappiness.com\/index.php\/2016\/07\/14\/things-that-make-me-happy-2\/","title":{"rendered":"Things That Make Me Happy"},"content":{"rendered":"<div class=\"separator\" style=\"clear: both; text-align: center;\"><a style=\"margin-left: 1em; margin-right: 1em;\" href=\"https:\/\/www.holdsuponhappiness.com\/wp-content\/uploads\/2016\/07\/20160713_141648-1024x650.jpg\"><img loading=\"lazy\" decoding=\"async\" class=\"aligncenter\" title=\"\" src=\"https:\/\/www.holdsuponhappiness.com\/wp-content\/uploads\/2016\/07\/20160713_141648-1024x650.jpg\" alt=\"Cone flowers\" width=\"640\" height=\"406\" border=\"0\" \/><\/a><\/div>\n<p>These flowers. \u00a0These flowers make me happy. \u00a0My gardens are a mess. \u00a0They are full of weeds and overgrown. \u00a0They really need to be taken apart and redone. \u00a0I am slowly working at it but at my current rate of progress, they will be done when I am 185. \u00a0However, that does not prevent some gorgeous flowers from blooming amongst the weeds. \u00a0From a distance it even looks like I am quite the gardener, just don&#8217;t get too close or the weeds will give me away.<\/p>\n<p>Fudgsicles. \u00a0Fudgsicles also make me happy. \u00a0They taste like childhood and summer. \u00a0When the weeds get to be too much I eat a fudgsicle and all is right with the world. \u00a0Fudgsicles remind me of walking down to the corner store on steaming hot days and buying treats for the whole family. \u00a0Though Popsicles were bigger then. Remember twin pops? \u00a0If there was only one of a favorite flavor left you had to carefully split it in half and share it with a sibling. \u00a0I don&#8217;t think they make twin pops anymore, do they? \u00a0Children these days are missing out.<\/p>\n<p>I found a stash of costume jewelry in the attic. \u00a0My daughter and I had fun looking through it. \u00a0I gave her a pair of earrings which thrilled her. \u00a0I am glad I saved the jewelry. \u00a0Styles do cycle, don&#8217;t they? You know you are getting older when everyone is excited about the latest fashion and you just look at it and remember your teenage years.<\/p>\n<p>My kids played Scrabble with me the other night. \u00a0It was an interesting game because my son has no patience for anyone who takes a long time to come up with a word. \u00a0He thinks you should put down the first word you see. \u00a0So really, we played speed Scrabble. \u00a0It was challenging in a whole different way and strangely enjoyable. \u00a0There was none of that sitting around while someone looks for the best possible word. \u00a0You just put something down and move on. \u00a0I actually kind of recommend it.<\/p>\n<p>It has been fun to watch my son revert to his childhood and get so excited while playing Pokemon Go on his phone. \u00a0There is nothing like watching an almost 16-year-old practically bounce with excitement after catching a Charmander.
