{"id":296,"date":"2016-10-07T12:05:00","date_gmt":"2016-10-07T12:05:00","guid":{"rendered":"https:\/\/www.holdsuponhappiness.com\/index.php\/2016\/10\/07\/golden-moments\/"},"modified":"2020-10-28T02:28:30","modified_gmt":"2020-10-28T02:28:30","slug":"golden-moments","status":"publish","type":"post","link":"https:\/\/www.holdsuponhappiness.com\/index.php\/2016\/10\/07\/golden-moments\/","title":{"rendered":"Golden Moments"},"content":{"rendered":"<div class=\"separator\" style=\"clear: both; text-align: center;\"><a style=\"margin-left: 1em; margin-right: 1em;\" href=\"https:\/\/www.holdsuponhappiness.com\/wp-content\/uploads\/2016\/10\/P7250469-1024x768.jpg\"><img loading=\"lazy\" decoding=\"async\" class=\"aligncenter\" title=\"\" src=\"https:\/\/www.holdsuponhappiness.com\/wp-content\/uploads\/2016\/10\/P7250469-1024x768.jpg\" alt=\"flowers\" width=\"640\" height=\"480\" border=\"0\" \/><\/a><\/div>\n<p>Life just stinks sometimes, doesn&#8217;t it? \u00a0It is full of stress and illness and a bit of exhaustion. \u00a0We complain of bad bosses, mounds of laundry, and kids that never pick up their shoes. \u00a0We focus on the things we haven&#8217;t gotten done and the things done too quickly.<\/p>\n<p>We need to focus a bit more on the golden moments.<\/p>\n<p>I sound like a motivational poster, don&#8217;t I?<\/p>\n<p>Oh well, I stand by it. \u00a0As corny as it sounds we need to look for the good to outweigh the bad. \u00a0Because the bad just intrudes and takes over sometimes. \u00a0So here is my list of golden moments from the last few days starting with the one from last night that made me think of writing this post. \u00a0Because everything is fodder for a blog post. \u00a0You have been warned.<\/p>\n<p>When you wake up before your alarm and lie there dreading the sound of it going off and then you roll over and realize it is only one in the morning and you still have 5 hours of sleep in front of you. \u00a0Is there anything more wonderful in that moment? \u00a0I don&#8217;t think so.<\/p>\n<p>That first sip of a perfectly made cup of tea, ideally taken just after your kids walk out the door for the bus when you know you will have a few minutes of peace and quiet.<\/p>\n<p>The hug you get from your teenage son when he forgets he is too old for such things.<\/p>\n<p>Book mail. Self-explanatory, really. \u00a0Coming home to new books will brighten any day. \u00a0I ordered some books. \u00a0They haven&#8217;t come yet but anticipating book mail is almost as good as receiving it.<\/p>\n<p>Sunsets. \u00a0Autumn sunsets are gorgeous. \u00a0My daughter and I get very excited about them.<\/p>\n<p>Phone calls from friends you haven&#8217;t heard from in a while.<\/p>\n<p>Chinese food eaten in a park in the midst of running errands. \u00a0Shrimp and chicken with vegetables. \u00a0Delicious.<\/p>\n<p>Watching my husband and son watch baseball together. \u00a0I don&#8217;t know why but it melts my heart every time.<\/p>\n<p>Cocoa almonds. \u00a0Not quite as good as a chocolate bar but much healthier.<\/p>\n<p>Switching out my summer clothes for my winter ones and finding a shirt I forgot I bought at the end of last season. \u00a0Never worn, still with tags on. \u00a0New clothes without spending any money recently. That is a happy moment right there.<\/p>\n<p>Getting out my huge afghan that I use all winter.
