{"id":275,"date":"2017-01-18T12:45:00","date_gmt":"2017-01-18T12:45:00","guid":{"rendered":"https:\/\/www.holdsuponhappiness.com\/index.php\/2017\/01\/18\/vacation-plans\/"},"modified":"2020-10-28T02:17:03","modified_gmt":"2020-10-28T02:17:03","slug":"vacation-plans","status":"publish","type":"post","link":"https:\/\/www.holdsuponhappiness.com\/index.php\/2017\/01\/18\/vacation-plans\/","title":{"rendered":"Vacation Plans"},"content":{"rendered":"<div class=\"separator\" style=\"clear: both; text-align: center;\"><a style=\"margin-left: 1em; margin-right: 1em;\" href=\"https:\/\/www.holdsuponhappiness.com\/wp-content\/uploads\/2017\/01\/P4200195-1024x768.jpg\"><img loading=\"lazy\" decoding=\"async\" class=\"aligncenter\" title=\"\" src=\"https:\/\/www.holdsuponhappiness.com\/wp-content\/uploads\/2017\/01\/P4200195-1024x768.jpg\" alt=\"London at night\" width=\"640\" height=\"480\" border=\"0\" \/><\/a><\/div>\n<p>I might possibly have mentioned before that I love London. \u00a0Does that sound familiar? \u00a0Do you have a vague memory of me rhapsodizing about England and bookstores and gardens?<\/p>\n<p>I thought you might.<\/p>\n<p>Well.<\/p>\n<p>We are going to do it all over again. \u00a0We are going to England again in April and this time we are taking the kids with us.<\/p>\n<div class=\"separator\" style=\"clear: both; text-align: center;\"><a style=\"margin-left: 1em; margin-right: 1em;\" href=\"https:\/\/www.holdsuponhappiness.com\/wp-content\/uploads\/2017\/01\/P4170045-1024x768.jpg\"><img loading=\"lazy\" decoding=\"async\" class=\"aligncenter\" title=\"\" src=\"https:\/\/www.holdsuponhappiness.com\/wp-content\/uploads\/2017\/01\/P4170045-1024x768.jpg\" alt=\"london underground\" width=\"640\" height=\"480\" border=\"0\" \/><\/a><\/div>\n<p>I know. \u00a0Just think of all the posts I am going to get out of this trip. \u00a0Prepare to be inundated with London photos.<\/p>\n<p>It is going to be a very different trip since we will have the kids with us. \u00a0London has always been our place. \u00a0We spend the rest of the year being parents and while we love our kids it has always been wonderful to spend one week just being a couple. \u00a0However, our son is getting older and we can see the writing on the wall. \u00a0In the not too distant future he will have his own independent life and even if he comes on vacation with us it won&#8217;t be the same. \u00a0He will want to do his own thing. \u00a0He will be an adult. \u00a0We want to do this one big trip while he is still a kid, while we are still parents doing things with our kids, not adults doing things with other independent adults. \u00a0We want to take our kids to the zoo and the museums and show them the sights. \u00a0So that is exactly what we are going to do. \u00a0We are going to show our children the things we have come to love and we are going to hope they have just a little bit of the feeling we do about England. \u00a0The kids are very excited and so are we.<\/p>\n<div class=\"separator\" style=\"clear: both; text-align: center;\"><a style=\"margin-left: 1em; margin-right: 1em;\" href=\"https:\/\/www.holdsuponhappiness.com\/wp-content\/uploads\/2017\/01\/P4180107-1024x768.jpg\"><img loading=\"lazy\" decoding=\"async\" class=\"aligncenter\" title=\"\" src=\"https:\/\/www.holdsuponhappiness.com\/wp-content\/uploads\/2017\/01\/P4180107-1024x768.jpg\" alt=\"Greenwich\" width=\"640\" height=\"480\" border=\"0\" \/><\/a><\/div>\n<p>When my husband and I go to London we spend a lot of time touring stately homes, wandering through gardens, browsing in bookshops, and sitting in coffee shops. \u00a0I think we are going to be experiencing a very different London with the kids. \u00a0Our son has already requested that we tour Emirates Stadium where Arsenal plays. \u00a0You can be sure that has never been on my list of things to do in London before. \u00a0Our daughter wants to go to the zoo. It doesn&#8217;t matter what city we are in, she always wants to go to the zoo. \u00a0We are going to show them a lot of the major tourist attractions and we are hoping to fit in a train trip out into the countryside. \u00a0I have been researching castles because our son is fascinated by the medieval time period and I think it would be fun to tour a castle that recreates that time. \u00a0Please, let me know if you have any suggestions.<\/p>\n<p>You can also be sure that I will be visiting as many bookshops as I can get away with. \u00a0It isn&#8217;t a trip to London if I don&#8217;t go to Persephone Books and Daunt Books and Waterstones and well, the list just goes on and on.<\/p>\n<p>We are going back to London with its noise and commotion, its gardens and its beautiful buildings. \u00a0We are going to eat fish and chips and tea and cake. \u00a0We are going to walk until our feet hurt and then be crushed onto the underground with too many people. \u00a0We will decide everyone&#8217;s accent sounds cooler than ours. \u00a0I will drive my family crazy by taking too many photographs. \u00a0We will show the kids a bigger world. \u00a0We will marvel at the history. \u00a0We will spend the week telling our daughter she can&#8217;t buy every single stuffed animal she sees. \u00a0I will try to buy every book I see. \u00a0We will enjoy our time with our kids because they grow up faster than you ever would believe possible.<\/p>\n","protected":false},"excerpt":{"rendered":"<p>I might possibly have mentioned before that I love London. \u00a0Does that sound familiar? \u00a0Do you have a vague memory of me rhapsodizing about England and bookstores and gardens?
