I know I have featured her poems many times before and I try to feature a variety of poets but today that does not seem to matter. Mary Oliver is the only acceptable choice for today.<\/p>\n<p><i>I was sad all day, and why not. There I was, books piled<\/i><br \/>\n<i>on both sides of the table, paper stacked up, words<\/i><br \/>\n<i>falling off my tongue.<\/i><br \/>\n<i><br \/>\n<\/i><br \/>\n<i>The robins had been a long time singing, and now it<\/i><br \/>\n<i>was beginning to rain.<\/i><br \/>\n<i><br \/>\n<\/i><br \/>\n<i>What are we sure of? Happiness isn&#8217;t a town on a map,<\/i><br \/>\n<i>or an early arrival, or a job well done, but good work<\/i><br \/>\n<i>ongoing. Which is not likely to be the trifling around<\/i><br \/>\n<i>with a poem.<\/i><br \/>\n<i><br \/>\n<\/i><br \/>\n<i>Then it began raining hard, and the flowers in the yard<\/i><br \/>\n<i>were full of lively fragrance.<\/i><br \/>\n<i><br \/>\n<\/i><br \/>\n<i>You have had days like this, no doubt. And wasn&#8217;t it<\/i><br \/>\n<i>wonderful, finally, to leave the room? Ah, what a\u00a0<\/i><br \/>\n<i>moment!<\/i><br \/>\n<i><br \/>\n<\/i><br \/>\n<i>As for myself, I swung the door open. And there was\u00a0<\/i><br \/>\n<i>the wordless, singing world.
