I needed a bit of peace and quiet this morning so, instead of doing my usual boring at-home exercise, I went for a walk all by myself. I dropped my husband off at an appointment and then wandered into a nearby park. It was supposed to rain this morning and it was grey and gloomy the whole time I was walking. Now that I am home the sun has come out. If that isn’t a metaphor for life lately then I don’t know what is.<\/p>\n

One of these days I am going to manage to have my actual camera with me instead of just my phone. My kids bought me a new lens for my camera and I really want to experiment with it but I haven’t had the chance. Maybe I should just take it with me when I leave the house so I have it when I make unexpected stops like this walk.<\/p>\n

I know it is a bit stereotypical to say that fall is my favorite time of year but it is true. I love the leaves changing color, the smell of them on the ground, the cool, crisp air, and the chance to do things without melting into a puddle of sweat. The leaves are definitely starting to change in Connecticut but we are having one last burst of warm weather and I am so done with that. Red and yellow leaves do not go with warm and muggy temperatures.<\/p>\n

I am home now with a long and boring list of practical things that must be done today. However, for half an hour or so this morning I scuffled through leaves, listened to the sound of a murmuring stream, and rejoiced in the color all around me.
